What is Autism?
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by deficits in social communication and social interaction and the presence of restricted, repetitive behaviors. Evaluation in ASD begins with screening of the general pediatric population to identify children at-risk or
demonstrating signs suggestive of ASD, following which a diagnostic evaluation is recommended.
The medical community uses the term “autism” to refer to a disorder or a disability, many people consider autistic people to be neurodivergent—that autism is a difference, not a disability. It is important to respect the viewpoint of the person with autism and/or their families about the type of services or care they want to receive.
People with autism sometimes have challenges with communication and social skills. They might find it hard to have conversations and may not notice social cues. Some people with autism may not talk at all, and others may not have trouble talking. Some people with autism might have trouble with making friends or keeping relationships at school or work.
People with autism also have behaviors that may look different from behaviors of those without autism. You may notice this when watching autistic kids learn or play. They may focus on one topic, like cars or a television show, or they may be attached to a certain object or activity. Sometimes, these behaviors make learning and engaging in new activities more difficult without support from caregivers or peers.
Early identification and intervention for autism can impact access to services and supports, which in turn can influence future outcomes for autistic individuals./ i want on sentence to end this post about how we can support these children and accept them
By fostering understanding, embracing their unique qualities, and providing the necessary support, we can help children with autism thrive and reach their full potential.

We were happy to conducted a successful workshop at Dubai Schools AlKhawaneej, as part of our ongoing HIMMA Awareness Program and our collaboration with Dubai schools AlKhawaneej. This initiative is dedicated to increasing awareness and empowering school teams to create inclusive, supportive, and dynamic learning environments for all students.
As part of this effort, we collaborated closely with the teaching assistants, offering intensive training on Task Analysis, guided by our ABA therapists’ team. This training provides them with the knowledge and tools to implement effective task chains, ensuring that each student receives a personalized learning experience that caters to their unique needs and abilities.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Dubai Schools AlKhawaneej team for their incredible support and collaboration. Together, we are fostering an environment of growth, support, and inclusion, making a meaningful and lasting impact on the educational journey of every student. ????
